Overview

The General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa is designed for skilled workers who wish to live and work in regional Australia. This visa allows you to stay in Australia for up to 5 years and gives you the opportunity to live, work, and study in designated regional areas.

With this visa, you can travel in and out of Australia as many times as you like while it remains valid. After holding the visa for 3 years, you may become eligible to apply for permanent residency, provided you meet the necessary requirements.

This pathway supports Australia’s regional development while offering skilled individuals a clear route to long-term settlement.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the General Skilled Migration visa, applicants must be under 45 years of age, have a suitable skills assessment for an occupation listed on the relevant skilled occupation list, and meet the minimum points requirement on the points test. Additional requirements include competent English language proficiency, meeting health and character standards, and being nominated by an Australian state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member residing in a designated regional area.

iii. Visa Application – Officially applying for your selected visa subclass.
After lodging your visa application, you will be required to attend biometric and health assessments. Additionally, police clearance certificates from all relevant countries of residence must be submitted to the Department of Home Affairs.
